The Laziest Vegans International Product Swap

A couple months ago I put a message up on the Laziest Vegans FB Discussion Board about swapping with fellow lazy Vegans. I didn't get much of a response, but one person humored me and offered to trade Vegan goodies. That person was Emily from the United Kingdom. She sent me a TON of stuff! I haven't had a chance to sample everything yet but I most definitely will. And yes, I'll have another swap soon, so be on the lookout!

When I opened the box I noticed a cute thank you card and some major candy. Goody Good Stuff Cola Breeze Gummies and Dairy Free White Buttons.

Nakd Bars!

Chorizo and Hemp Spacebars.

Choices Dairy Free Caramels. These are AMAZING! They literately melt in your mouth. Find them here.

Vegan Jelly Crystals from Just Wholefoods.

Vegan Chicken Style Cacciatore from Vegideli.

Vegetable and Shiitake Pate from granoVita.

And if you were curious what I sent Emily, let's just say it had a couple marshmallows in it :)

Uncle Eddie's Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate-Chip Cookies

Have you seen these cookies before? You know, the ones in the brown bag. Sometimes they are in your cookie isle or sometimes they are in your frozen section. Or perhaps you've seen them at your favorite online Vegan store. They are very unassuming. If fact, you might think they are boring cookies.

Well, I'm here to set the record straight. Eddie's Peanut Butter Chocolate-Chip Cookies are the most deceivingly decadent cookies in the world.

Is it normal to eat the whole bag in the same day? Probably not. You see, I'm an addict. Once the first cookie hits my mouth, I know that the bag is gone. The peanut butter and chocolate chip mixture is too much. All of the ingredients melded into a crumbly chunky cookie. I'm sure these would be great with almond milk but with one hand on the bag and one hand on a cookie, that ain't happening.

But I think we are missing the bigger picture, who are you Uncle Eddie and what have you done to me?

New So Delicious Coconut Milk Nog & Mint Chocolate

Sorry to keep bragging about Vida Vegan Con (it was awesome!!!), but when I was there I happened to notice sample boxes for the new So Delicious Holiday Flavors: Nog & Mint Chocolate. I instantly got excited for the holidays! Luckily I'm one of the chosen ones to test out these new flavors before they hit the shelves. I consider it an honor and I want to thank So Delicious for sending these out so quickly.

So let's start with the nog! The words "out of this world" come to mind. If you love your nog thick, creamy & nutmegy then this is the nog you've been waiting for. It's so good!!! I think it's the new standard for Vegan nog.

The mint chocolate was not as thick as the nog but it was equally delicious. I liked this better then the soy mint chocolates of the past because it didn't have the "beany" soy flavor. The mint was refreshing. You'd almost think they crushed candy canes to provide the mint flavor. If you love mint and chocolate, you'll be in heaven.

So when you're looking for holiday beverages, make sure you try both new flavors of So Delicious. I think they knocked it out of the park - even Santa is gonna want to chug this.

Food For Lovers Vegan Queso

A couple of months ago at Vida Vegan Con, everyone received a jar of Vegan Queso from Food For Lovers. I'd heard of their Vegan Queso before but it's not available in Omaha and I just never got around to ordering it. Everyone I know has raved about how delicious it is, so I was pretty impatient to try it myself. Also, I was lucky enough to meet Chris and Crystal, the owners of Food For Lovers, who were super awesome and sweet. In no way did their sweetness influence my review, it's just nice to see a Vegan-owned business that cares about their customers.

A disclaimer: YOU WILL EAT THE WHOLE JAR IN ONE SETTING. I promise you. There is no way not to. I told myself I would spread it out over a day or two. NOPE. I don't know what they put in this stuff but it's mad addictive. The Queso is soooo good. Tangy, spicy and silky all at the same time. I threw some nacho chips in a bowl with some hot Queso, and topped them with some fresh tomatoes. It was heavenly!!!

So, I know I'm like the 100th Vegan blogger to tell you to go buy some Vegan Queso, but you've really got to try it. In fact, I'm going to contact my local Whole Foods today just because I love it so much. And last but not least, if you have been enjoying Randomofo.com during this years Vegan Mofo, you have Chris & Crystal to thank! You two are some amazing Vegans!!!

Annie's Organic Orchard Fruit Bites

I've been known to forget to eat my daily allowance of fruit. It's not that I don't like fruit but unless it's a banana or already cut-up, I'm pretty lazy. So when I saw that these Annie's Organic Orchard Fruit Bites have one serving of fruit per pouch, I was pretty stoked.

The three flavors I purchased were strawberry, grape and apple. Shapes of the bites varied from the Annie's Bunny, a star and a flower. Taste-wise I enjoyed the grape the most. All three tasted really good and very natural. Not too sweet but sweet enough to be considered a treat. These are something I could throw in my lunch box and leave in there until I need a sweet snack.

Divvies Halloween Candy

I reviewed some chocolate bars from Divvies earlier this week and it got me thinking, what else do they make that I might like? Well, I headed over to their online shop and I found some pretty cool Halloween candy. Not that I need more Halloween candy, but you might!

How about a couple of Vegan chocolate ghosts? Hell yes! The same great chocolate as the Divvine Chocolate Bar. Yummy.

How about a Vegan chocolate dinosaur? Kids will love this. It's so cute!

My favorite discovery is this blue rock candy. It tastes like cotton candy!!! I know it's pure sugar but yum city! LOVE IT.

Cluckphrey Vegan Patties

When it comes to Vegan chicken I haven't had much luck. I do like Gardein's Seven Grain Crispy Tenders A LOT but that's about it. My girlfriend has an affinity for a brand called Cluckphrey from Food For Life. Up till recently I wouldn't go near them. I'm pretty picky about my lazy Vegan food and something called "Cluckphrey" just didn't appeal to me.

One fateful night I was home alone and there wasn't much in the fridge. I took a peak in the freezer and scanned my options and saw a box of Cluckphreys. I thought about it for a sec and just decided "what the hell" and cooked one up. I was taught that the secret to a great tasting Cluckphrey is to cook it in a skillet with a tiny amount of oil. Apparently microwaving them makes them soggy oggie.

Well guess what? It was pretty damn good! I dressed it up with Vegenaise, tomato and lettuce and had some fries on the side. Easy, lazy and all that. Since I cooked the patty in the skillet it was nice and crispy. It reminded me of a High School cafeteria chicken patty, in a good way. Very tasty! So if you are looking for a nice chick'n option, take a look at Cluckphrey.

The Laziest Vegans Top Ten Asks Lauren Marie

For this month's Laziest Vegans Top Ten I'm keeping it in the family, so to speak. Lauren Marie and I met on January 18, 2008 at my first Vegan Omaha Meetup. Lauren, Jessie "I love to jump out of planes" Schnieder and I rounded out the awesome attendance of three. As I was talking with my new Vegan friends, Lauren mentioned that she knew a certain Isa Chandra Moskowitz. Well you can say the rest is history and I have quite a bit of gratitude for Lauren.

You should follow Lauren at her blog Whoa Wren because she knows what Vegans like. At Vida Vegan Con, Lauren had some amazing presentations, one of them being about Small Town Vegans. Also Lauren recently relocated to Denver and is already kicking butt with Abbie Ray Harris at Vegan Coloradical. Oh, and she is the biggest Hanson fan in the world! But what kind of candy does she like?

What is your favorite store-bought veggie burger?
Veggie burgers aren't really my jam. Give me Gardein chicken tenders over a veggie burger any day!

What is you favorite frozen dinner?
I love love love Amy's vegan mac and cheese, it is compact portion of creamy deliciousness!

What is your favorite ice cream?
Nada Moo's mint chip owns my heart.

What is your favorite chip or cracker?
My favorite crackers, hands down, are the Eco-Planet vegan cheddar crackers.

What is your favorite cereal?
The fake, vegan frosted mini-wheats from Whole Foods. I can't even trust myself with buying my own box.

What is your favorite candy?
Sour Patch Kids 4ever.

What is your favorite cookie?
My favorite cookies are the black and white cookies from Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar, when my mom makes them.

What three pre-packaged food items would you take to a desert island?
1) Any hot sauce but Tabasco
2) Chocolate Booty
3) An endless supply of Amy's tofu scramble wraps

Name a product you would like Veganized?
Bonne Belle Lipsmackers in Dr Pepper or Pink Lemonade. Was this supposed to be a food? I want easily accessible vegan chapstick!

What are your favorite local and/or online stores for Vegan products?
I love Cosmo's and Food Fight for food (and chapstick) and Herbivore for comfy, sassy clothing.

And that concludes The Laziest Vegans Top Ten. Thanks Lauren!

So Delicious Kidz Popsicles

While looking for my normal treats in the freezer case at Whole Foods I spied these So Delicious Kidz Popsicles. Maybe they've been sitting in there all summer but I feel like I would have seen them. Even though it's cooling down here in Omaha, I can't pass up some awesome natural popsicles. Also, the Farm Sanctuary logo really caught my eye, how cool is that?! You get to sign up for the Farm Sanctuary Kidz Club and get awesome stuff!

The popsicles themselves are great! It's like you are eating real juice (well you are). The three flavors are cherry, orange and grape. Cherry was my favorite flavor-wise. Truth be told, I'd like the cherry no matter what just because I'm a cherry kind of guy. Orange and grape were good, too. So if you are looking to entertain some kids in the near future I'd totally suggest these frozen treats. And don't for get to check out the website!

Panda Candy Coated Licorice Bits

New from Panda are these Candy Coated Licorice Bits. They are the Vegan equivalent of Good & Plenty. You get licorice pieces coated in peppermint and lemon. These are all natural and not full of things you can't pronounce. I my humble opinion they destroy normal Good & Plenty.

Sweet licorice flavor mixed with natural lemon and peppermint flavor. The best part is they are fun to eat. Crunchy candy coating with a soft licorice inside. I'm excited for even more flavors in the future (cherry anyone?). We can only dream... Look for Candy Coated Licorice Bits at a store near you!

Liz Lovely Cookies

For my birthday back in August I received one of the most unexpected gifts ever, all eight Liz Lovely Cookies! It was a gift from my girlfriend's mom who obviously knows what I like. I've had a couple Liz Lovely cookies before but never all eight. With two in a pack, you'll never see another human more proficient at devouring Vegan cookies. Coookieees!

Snicker Dudes- Moist, cinnamony, buttery, sweet. Perfect.

Cowgirl Cookies- An amazing cookie doughish delicacy. My second favorite. Why didn't it come with three?

Peanut Butter Classics- Delicious peanut butter and chocolate drizzles. Great with some almond milk.

Goats A' Grazin'- A yummy loaded cookie. Oatmeal and raisins overflowing. I guess I wish I was a goat!

Ginger Snapdragons- Strong and tingly ginger flavor, crunchy sugary outside and a chewy molasses bite.

Chocolate Moose Dragons- I'm gonna say this was my favorite of the eight. A chocolaty moist inside with a crusty outside. This was one delish cookie.

Cowboy Cookies- Oatmeal, chocolate and walnuts make this a very hearty cookie.

Macaroonies Sock-it-to-me!- A coconutty macaroon cookie. It was a bit sweet for me. My least favorite of the eight.

At the end of this cookie odyssey I discovered that Liz Lovely makes some yummy cookies. So the next time you are looking for some Vegan cookie goodness, give Liz Lovely a chance!

Divvies BingGo Chocolate Bars

Divvies is a company on the come up. First they amazed me with their Vegan popcorn and now I'm mesmerized by their Vegan chocolate bars. Divvies BingGo Bars are Willy Wonka sized chocolate bars that really hit the spot. Can I manage not to eat these before I take pictures? Let's see!

The Benjamint Crunch is amazing!!!! It's like a Candy Cane Joe-Joe chocolate bar. Crunchy and refreshing. I love this so much! It was made by elves or something. The Divvine Chocolate is a classic chocolate bar. Nothing mindblowing but it could take out a non-Vegan chocolate bar anyday. Simple and delicious.

So be on the look out for these bad boys! Oh there is a secret when you open the packaging but I won't spoil it. Chomp!

Vegan Supplements

I guess you can say I'm pro-supplement. Besides the fact I drink Vega everyday (well almost), I also try to take a daily vitamin, an Omega-3 and a B-12. Some days I forget but that's life! Sure you can't live on supplements alone but they can augment a normal Vegan diet. Please consult a doctor before taking any kind of vitamin or supplement. I'm not a professional!!! Here are some of the things I like and use on a regular basis.

Deva is one of the best companies around for Vegan supplements. The two I take on a normal basis are Coenzyme Q10 and B12. Other supplements Deva manufactures are Vegan Multi-Vitamins, Vegan Essential Fatty Acids, Vegan Glucosamine, Vegan Calcium and Vegan Herbal Supplements.

The Omega 3 Capsules from V Pure. I've been taking them for about a year or so. Do they help my well being? I think so but try them for yourself and see. A great way to get your Omega 3 fatty acids.

Pangea's Vegan Life multi-vitamin is the first Vegan vitamin that I ever bought and I'm still with it. You're suppose to take three vitamins a day but I usually end up just taking one. Note that the bottle shown has added iron. Typically the only people who need added iron are premenopausal women (aka not me!).

So there you go! What kind of Vegan supplements do you take?

Pur Vegan Chewing Gum

Pur is a new Vegan gum from Switzerland. Besides being Vegan, it's gluten free, nut free, aspartame free and has no GMO ingredients. I gave up normal gum a long time ago because Aspartame gave me headaches. I also disliked the numerous ingredients I couldn't pronounce. So to have a gum out there that promotes themselves as Vegan and doesn't include Aspartame is a win-win for me.

Out of the four kinds of gum, I enjoyed the Pomegranate gum the most. It started off with an amazing burst of pomegranate flavor but sadly it dies off after 3 minutes or so. The Spearmint and Peppermint both had great natural flavor and freshened up my mouth. They seemed to last a little longer than the Pomegranate. And last but not least was the Excitement gum. It wasn't really my cup of tea. It tasted anise-like but not quite. I was waiting for the flavor to go away on this one.

It's really hard for me not to like gum that advertises itself as Vegan but I really wanted the flavor to last longer. How they might be able to do that I don't know, but if they can do it I would be more than happy to buy Pur on a regular basis.

Cascadian Farm's Organic Lemonade

Summer is over but I'm not ready to let go just yet. I'm sure you're just like me and love a nice cold glass of lemonade on a hot day. My lemonade of choice for some time had been Cascadian Farm's Organic Lemonade. I used to buy the cheap $1 stuff but you get what you pay for. This is exactly what you want in a lemonade. Lemony, sweet, perfect.

And there is no better way to drink your cold lemonade than a Return of the Jedi glass! Well, unless you have Return of the Jedi Dixie Cups.

Arrowhead Mills Creamy Peanut Butter

Along with yogurt, peanut butter is my most eaten food. I really take it for granted how much I love my peanut butter. The manner in which I eat the pb varies, but unless I'm on vacation I have to have my peanut butter. My pb of choice for the last 10 years has been Arrowhead Mills Creamy Peanut Butter. At first I was aghast by the amount of oil at the top of the jar, but then I realized that is what real peanut butter does. A little shaking or stirring fixes it right up.

During the summer, I'm a celery peanut butter connoisseur. It's healthy and refreshing, a winning combination. The cold of winter calls for me to have peanut butter sandwiches. And if I get really crazy, I'll have crackers and pb. It's just the perfect food! I want to thank Arrowhead Mills for such a delicious and nutritious peanut butter.

Annie Chun's Garlic Scallion Noodle Bowl

A while back someone on the Laziest Vegans FB Page suggested I try an Annie Chun's product since many are Vegan. I've seen them in the store before but for whatever reason I never got one. I checked out all of the different Vegan options and decided on the Garlic and Scallion Noodle Bowl.

First of all I have to come out and say that this is the laziest meal EVER. You put some noodles (already soft) in a bowl, add a cup of water and put it in the microwave. Then when it's done you drain the noodles and pour the sauce packet on top. Easy/lazy dorm food.

Taste-wise I thought it was decent. It seem more like emergency food to me than an actually dinner. It definitely had a garlic/ soy sauce flavor going on. The noodles were nice and moist. You wouldn't want to eat it every day but I found it enjoyable. It's funny to not have to boil the noodles for once. Also, it isn't much to look at but that's to be expected. So if you are in a jam, keep one of these in your pantry and you'll have some excellent emergency Vegan food!

Ian's Gluten-Free Onion Rings

Onion rings are pretty great. I mean, to me, they're better than fries. You can have them as a side or make them the main meal. I've always been pretty bummed because there has never been a decent frozen Vegan onion ring. A couple months ago I spotted these Ian's Onion Rings and just had to have them in my belly!

So I got them home and fired up the oven. The first thing I noticed on the package is that they are gluten free. So instead of wheat, the batter is made from corn. The rings were sweet and crunchy. I enjoyed the corn taste a lot. Oh course I had my mixture of ketchup and Frank's on the side. Except for a little breakage, I thought Ian's did an amazing job making a Vegan AND gluten free onion ring. I did notice they do burn very easily so make sure keep an eye on them.

Bottom line, if you are ever in mood for a little Vegan onion ring action, I wholeheartedly recommend Ian's Onion Rings!
