Quick Spaghetti Dinner!

I saw these Tofu Shirataki Noodles from House Foods at Whole Foods the other day. Tofu noodles? How good can they be? Curiosity got the best of me so I bought a package to test out. I got it home and cut open the package. The first thing you will notice is that it smells FUNKY. Wow. Once you rinse and drain the noodles the smell goes away. Microwave the noodles for a minute and then you are ready for the sauce!

Muir Glen has been my pasta sauce of choice ever since I went Vegan. When I was growing up, my Mom would always buy Ragu. While talking about this with Veganette, we decided you were either in a Ragu or Prego household. As a kid I was told Prego was too runny and Ragu was thicker. So anyways, I still have a Ragu state of mind even though I don't buy it.

So here is the end result! I added one Amy's California Veggie Burger patty, which I crumbled up into the sauce. And for bonus points, I added a couple dashes of Parmazano on top. I thought it was delicious! The noodles were nice and moist and the sauce was wonderful as usual. All in all it was a very filling meal for a lazy one.

  1. ive seen the tofu noodles in the grocery store, but always thought they looked weird. apparently they are super low in calories, because your body doesn't really digest them..
    i think i'll give em a try.
btw. i grew up in a ragu household :)

  2. Aah I really want to try tofu noodles, but so far I have yet to find them. Your meal sounds great!

  3. I keep seeing these noodles around and wondering about them, now I'll have to try them out!
And my family's too good for prego and ragu... we're all Newmans Own, bitches.

  4. It's so true about the Ragu/Prego house thing. I have been in countless debates with friends over this, LOL. Ragu old world style mushroom flavor was my favorite sauce in the world since I was old enough to eat solid foods. I was very sad when I went vegan to discover there is cheese in the sauce. I have since found a suitable replacement, but Ragu will always maintain a soft spot in my heart. :)
